Catholic Education Sandhurst Limited (CES) is one of the four Catholic dioceses in Victoria, Australia. The organisation manages 58 schools and early childhood communities across the northeastern quarter of the state, including Bendigo, Kerang, Wodonga, and Shepparton.
Catholic Education Sandhurst oversees 42 primary schools and 8 secondary schools, along with several privately-owned schools within the diocese. The organisation is also expanding its early childcare centres, with three currently in operation and more on the way.
The mission of Catholic Education Sandhurst is to provide the best educational outcomes for students in a safe and supportive environment. CES strives to deliver equitable access to technology, infrastructure, and resources across all schools, ensuring that every student, regardless of location, benefits from the same high-quality education and learning experience.
Catholic Education Sandhurst is on an IT transformation journey to provide their schools with Australia’s leading technology environment. CES’s transformation leaders are implanting new tools, solutions and partnerships to reduce the administrative burden on staff, reduce downtime and provide their schools with the most efficient technology.
To support their journey, Catholic Education Sandhurst were looking for a technology partner that is flexible and could work with them to design an end-to-end technology solution that aligned to their vision.
All schools had differing IT equipment, strategies and suppliers, leading to inefficiencies in procurement and challenges in device management. There was also inequity in device standards among staff and students.
No out-of-the-box solution fits all of Catholic Education Sandhurst’s requirements – only a custom and human-centric approach could help them solve all challenges.
The innovative nature of Catholic Education Sandhurst’s IT transformation required a bespoke, collaborative approach. CHG-MERIDIAN collaborated with CES and their partner to design a holistic Device as a Service solution with Catholic Education Sandhurst that addressed all aspects of the technology experience.
Following various workshops, a bespoke Device as a Service solution was devised that harmonised their school technology, reduced administrative burden on school staff and provided efficient teaching and learning environment for staff and students.
All schools now have equal access to best-in-class devices, procurement and asset management processes are now digitised and the total cost of ownership of IT equipment has decreased.
The Device as a Service concept is supported by CHG-MERIDIAN’s asset management platform, tesma. The online system enables schools to procure devices directly from a pre-defined catalogue, manage and return their technology online, and forecast future technology requirements.
“We were spending too much time fixing old devices across our schools. With CHG-MERIDIAN’s solution, we don’t have to do that anymore. New devices are set up before they arrive at our schools, which means less downtime and quicker access for students and staff. It’s been a game changer—saving us time, reducing costs, and letting us focus on improving things instead of just fixing problems."
Our leading asset management system, tesma, has made the technology procurement, management and returns experience simple. Each school can order its technology from a pre-defined catalogue defined by the Catholic Education Sandhurst office, harmonising technology across all schools and providing each of them with equitable access. Additionally, the CES office and individual schools know exactly what devices they have, where they are and when they are due for renewal.
CHG-MERIDIAN’s custom Device as a Service solution effectively supports Catholic Education Sandhurst IT transformation journey. As a result of the partnership, their technology procurement and management processes are more efficient thanks to tesma, all staff and students have up to date devices and their total cost of ownership has significantly declined. CHG-MERIDIAN is proud to support Catholic Education Sandhurst’s IT transformation that is on its way to becoming the best-practice case for education technology management in Australia.
